What GL Mapping Does

GL Mapping connects payroll components to accounting accounts. It tells BoviHR where payroll values should go when GL Export is generated.

Practical Example

NHI employee deductions should be mapped to an NHI payable liability account. Gross salary should be mapped to a salary expense account. Employer contributions may be mapped to employer expense or liability accounts depending on accounting policy.

Basic Steps

  1. Review payroll components.
  2. Identify the accounting account for each component.
  3. Open GL Mapping.
  4. Map each component to the correct account.
  5. Run a test GL Export.
  6. Review totals with finance.

Common Mistakes

  • Leaving components unmapped.
  • Mapping liabilities as expenses.
  • Not reviewing mappings after new salary components are added.
  • Using one account for items that finance needs separated.
