What Payroll Permissions Do
Payroll permissions control which users can access payroll screens, settings, reports, payslips, loans, advances, and related modules.
Some payroll features are also controlled by company modules, so a user may have a role permission but still not see a feature if the module is not enabled.
Practical Example
A staff user should help with payroll review but should not change Payroll Settings. Give the user access to Draft Review or payroll reports, but do not give Payroll Settings permissions.
Common Payroll Permission Areas
- Make Payment
- Payslip History
- Payroll Items
- Payroll Settings
- Draft Review
- Reports
- Advance Salary
- Loans
- Weekly Overtime Review
- Hours
- GL/Finance
Common Mistakes
- Giving full Payroll Settings access to users who only need reports.
- Forgetting module access.
- Confusing employee payslip permission with payroll admin payslip history.
- Not reviewing permissions after staff role changes.
